Immersion trips are a spring break tradition at Hope College which involve groups of students, along with faculty and staff mentors, traveling to different parts of the world to immerse themselves in the good work of local missionaries. The Saint Benedict Forum works together with Hope College’s Campus Ministries, the Union of Catholic Students, and the local Catholic parish to provide an opportunity for students to experience the distinctive witness of Catholic missions. The goal of the immersion trip is to begin to form students, Catholic students in particular, in the tradition of Catholic Social Teaching, to develop strong Catholic student leaders at Hope College, and to introduce students to the richness of Catholic spirituality. More importantly, the purpose of the trip is to learn to see the face of Christ in the poor, to learn to see others with Christian eyes.
